LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) – It’s a sure sign that the holiday season is fast-approaching. The 189-foot-tall Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom park will take on special appearances in the coming weeks.

The iconic fairy-tale fortress which serves as the gateway to Fantasyland received a makeover earlier this year with enhanced lighting projections and other special effects which illuminate the castle into several forms.

During a new holiday version of the theme park’s “The Magic, The Memories and You!” show, the castle will transform right before you eyes, appearing as a giant gingerbread house, a gift wrapped in paper and bows, or as a giant candy cane.

The 2011 holiday events at the Magic Kingdom began on November 4, 2011 and run through January 8, 2012. They include:

Cinderella’s Holiday Wish — 200,000 tiny white lights cover Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom in a dazzling light show performed nightly during the holiday season with daily displays at 6:15 p.m.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party — Guests can experience “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade”, the holiday-themed fireworks spectacular, “Holiday Wishes–Celebrate the Spirit of the Season,” during a special after-hours party inside the Magic Kingdom theme park. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party requires a separate admission ticket. Entry to the Magic Kingdom begins at 4 p.m. with your event ticket, those times are subject to change. Date are November 8, 9, 11, 13, 15, 18, 27, 29, and 30; December 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, and 18.

The Magic, The Memories and You! — A dramatic new projection show filled with special effects and magic, Cinderella Castle will transform into a shimmering canvas for images of Walt Disney World guests and the memories they made that day at Magic Kingdom.

Holiday Wishes Fireworks — 180 degree perimeter firework effects will perform on each of the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party nights. Following the final party, the show will perform during regular park hours through to the end of December, but without the perimeter fireworks.

Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade — Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade will be performed during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
